In reviewing the astounding success of Frank Kern and Ed Dale with their Underachiever Mastery course, I was struck by a few lessons.
One of the headlines used to promote the Underachiever course (a home-study course about making money online, for those who might not know) was: "Squawking Birds Buy Deadly Race Cars". It was a great headline - it grabs your attention, and makes you want to read the rest just to know what the hell it's about. So that's lesson one to learn from this example: Great headlines get your copy read.
The sales letter for the latest iteration of this product (the "Mastery" version) was written, as I understand it, by John Reese. I could be wrong about that, but I think he wrote the letter [Note - Thanks Ed Dale for pointing out that it was actually Michel Fortin who wrote the letter!] . And it's a great sales letter. Thus, lesson two: great sales copy makes people want to buy your product.
The subject matter of the Underachiever course yields lesson three: you can make more money selling items to targeted niches than most people suspect. The point of the headline was that the infamous "Parrot Site" that Frank Kern created makes enough money every month to make the payments on his "deadly race cars". A compelling case for learning what's in his course, wouldn't you say?
Ed Dale, Frank's partner, was making similar discoveries simultnneously, over on the top of the world (hey, there's no "up" or "down" in space, so who's to say Ed isn't on the top of the world?). The two eventually hooked up, and the rest is history.
So, have we learned anything new? Not really. This stuff really is as old as Claude Hopkins. But often we make big improvements when we get "back to basics". The basics we revisited here:
- Great headlines get your copy read.
- Great copy sells your stuff (which is presumably good enough that a hungry audience will want to buy it).
- Targeted niches are a deep well of income when approached correctly.
More insight into the process Frank Kern and Ed Dale used to promote their course can be found at their blog.
Thanks for the kind words Ray. Just a small correction - It was Michel Fortin who wrote the letter. I love your blog

Once again, the "big names" in the market take everyone for a ride for top dollar that should have only cost a nickel. They have big ideas about small niches, but like usually it is way easier to say it than to find and promote to these niche markets.
These guys are preying on the masses of people that want to find a way to work online. If you want to make a fortune online and don't have any morals, just copy these jerks. If you have lots of money and time to spend following these ideas that are free to pick up around the web anyway, then pay these idiots to talk at you.

Fernando, I am going to leave this comment up but I want to be clear: there will be no bashing of individuals on my blog.
Frank and Ed are not ripping anyone off:
1. They offer an unconditional money back guarantee.
2. Nobody has been forced to buy their course.
3. The only way in which they ask you to "copy" them is to duplicate their work with niche markets.
4. They are successful in serving their niches, apart from their Underachiever success.
So I must respectfully disagree with your asessment. Best of success to you, Fernando!
